Box making

The Redbone Bindery custom builds fully lined slipcases and drop-back clamshell boxes for books or loose material that require safe keeping.

Boxes offer light and dust protection. The snug fit of a custom-made box protects the book from damage sustained by impact or by its regular removal from the shelf.

Books with loose accompanying material are ideal subjects for boxes. Photos, clippings and other ephemera stored between the pages of a book can cause undue strain to the binding. We design and build boxes with separate compartments where the items can be stored safely together.

The Redbone Bindery also makes boxes for unusual and irregular items such as CD's and video-tapes. The resulting box can be made to imitate the shape of a book.
